“You Don’t Think About That…” Lundstram Makes Celtic Claim Ahead Of Old Firm Clash

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram claims the squad are not thinking about the nine-point gap that has opened up between them and Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The Light Blues take on the Premiership leaders at home on Monday and, when asked whether the points difference in the table is playing on their minds, Lundstram replied:

“You don’t think about that when you cross the white line, of course, you don’t. Obviously, we are nine points behind and we want to try and reduce that deficit as much as we can. We go out to win every game and if that gets us closer to reducing the nine-point deficit then that is great. But we are just concentrating on ourselves at the minute, trying to implement the gaffer’s style and getting better, that is really all we are trying to do. If that comes with reducing the deficit then great.”

As the old cliche goes, the Gers have to focus on one match at a time, Before the derby, Michael Beale’s side face Motherwell tomorrow night and the priority has to be getting a win in that match first and foremost.

Considering that Rangers have won each of their games by a one goal margin since Beale’s appointment, they will know no game is a given, despite Motherwell’s poor form.

Steven Hammell’s team managed to give away a two-goal lead against ten-man Kilmarnock last time out so their confidence will be fragile heading into the fixture. For that reason, you would still back the Bears to come out on top, which will give a good platform heading into the huge clash against Celtic.
