Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has revealed he has not had any discussions with the club about extending his contract.
The 30-year-old has had numerous injury problems over the course of his career at Ibrox, but he is currently back available for selection, having played the full 90 minutes against Hibernian on Thursday. Despite his current deal expiring at the end of the season, though, Jack said he hasn’t had a conversation with the Light Blues about potentially staying beyond the summer:
“It is one of those situations, I have not had that conversation with anyone. When that conversation comes then we will sit down and see what that plan is for the future. I think sometimes the manager can have that conversation with you or Ross (Wilson) can have that conversation with you.”
“I think I am old enough now that I can be approached and I can speak but obviously you have got your agent to sort the contracts out but it is nowhere near that at the minute. It is just focusing on playing football and when the conversation comes we will see what happens.”
Supporters on Twitter do appreciate what Jack offers when he is fit but, for many, he is simply too injury prone and they are expecting him to leave the club when his contract runs out:
Not fit often enough, good player but time to move him on.

When. And its not very often. That ryan jack is fit he's an important player. We are better when he's in there firing on all cylinders. But these moments have been rare.

Good player for us when fit. Unfortunately, "when fit" isn't a luxury we can afford.

Beale and the board cannot be sentimental when it comes to these players, nothing against Jack he's well liked within our support but we need players fit and available for each season, he shouldn't be getting an extension.

Move on along with Helander, Roofe,Souttar. Way to many injury prone players in the squad.

It will be interesting to see what Ross Wilson and Michael Beale decide to do if Jack does stay fit between now and May. If he plays regularly and demonstrates his importance to the team, talks over a new deal may well be held. Considering his past track record, though, that seems unlikely at the moment.
