“Who Wants To Give This Money? Rangers?” Club Chief Speaks Out Amid Interest In 5M Rated Romanian Star

FCSB owner Gigi Becali says Darius Olaru’s future will only be resolved after the club’s Europa Conference League playoff tie against Viking.

Rangers have been linked with a €6m (£5m) offer for the 24-year-old in the Romanian media this week, but Becali has played down the speculation, stating he will not even consider selling the midfielder at the moment:

“Who wants to give this money? Rangers? I am not discussing Olaru now. An offer may also come today from Real Madrid, from Barcelona and offer me anything. I don’t argue. Olaru is not for sale now. From Friday we resume the discussions, let’s see how we will be then. But for now, no one is leaving, no one is coming. Let us get into groups and then we will discuss differently. Maybe a player will leave, but I will certainly bring reinforcements so that we can face it on all levels.”

FCSB take on Viking in the first leg this evening, while the return fixture is on August 25th so if the Gers are interested in recruiting Olaru this summer, it may have to be done very close to deadline day.

The Romanian international performed well for FCSB last campaign, providing 12 assists in all competitions, but he has struggled somewhat with his form at the start of this season.

Whether Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst actually needs another central midfielder is open for debate and Olaru’s asking price is also pretty hefty.
