“Rangers Have Looked At Him…” Respected Journalist Confirms Club’s Interest In 10 Cap England Star

Rangers have considered making a move for Tottenham holding midfielder Harry Winks this summer, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.

The reporter claims that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are one of a number of teams who have weighed up tabling a bid for the 26-year-old:

“Everyone accepts that signing him at the moment is a little bit of a gamble. It’s one that could pay off, but there isn’t a huge amount of tangible advanced interest. I know that Rangers have looked at him, I know that a few clubs in the [English] Championship have made enquiries; I think Winks feels that he can still play in the top tier somewhere. There’s some growing interest now in Italy as well.”

Winks has been capped ten times by England, but his game time at Spurs has been rather limited in recent seasons. He has not even made the matchday squad for either of the Premier League club’s games so far this campaign.

A departure before the end of the transfer window seems inevitable but Jacobs’s comments suggest that a switch to Ibrox isn’t looking that likely at the moment.

The Gers will need to refresh their options in the middle of the park soon, with both Steven Davis and Ryan Jack out of contract next year, so there is still a possibility that Winks will be considered as a target in the future.
