Derek Ferguson Names The Rangers Player Who Could Be Sold For “£20M Plus” This Summer

Ex-Rangers star Derek Ferguson says Jack Butland could fetch a fee in excess of £20m during the next transfer window.

The 31-year-old has been sensational since arriving on a free transfer last year and speaking to Ibrox News, Ferguson said that it would take a club record for the Light Blues to offload their no.1:

“To think we got him for nothing, on a free, and we could sell him for, and I’m going to say this, £20m-plus, what a bit of business that would be. But you want top players to be at Rangers and you want to win things.”

“He’s got that relationship with the manager, you can actually see that, the respect between the two of them. So fingers crossed Big Jack stays with us but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the big boys down in England wanted to come in and snap him up.”

Butland has not missed a beat since arriving in Glasgow

After being let go by Crystal Palace on a free, as well as not playing a single game for Manchester United during his loan spell at Old Trafford last season, fans were rightly sceptical when the keeper arrived at the club in July.

However, Butland‘s record since taking up the gloves for Rangers has been impeccable. He has 23 clean sheets in 47 appearances this campaign.

England snub should fuel the Rangers’ no.1 to finish the season on a high

It was widely believed that Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate would recall Butland to the senior squad for the first time in five years.

However, Butland was once again overlooked for the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. Even when Sam Johnstone picked up an injury, Southgate opted to call up Burnley’s James Trafford instead.

The snub will hopefully fuel Butland in the closing couple of months of the season as he looks to prove Southgate wrong.
