Sky Provide New Update As Rangers Managerial Candidate Holds ‘Further Talks’ With The Club

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has had “further talks” about becoming the next Rangers manager, according to Sky Sports News.

The Dutchman remains the favourite to replace Steven Gerrard in the hot seat at Ibrox, and Sky presenter Hayley McQueen reported yesterday that, while van Bronckhorst is not the only contender left in the race, discussions with the 46-year-old are ongoing:

“Sky Sports News have been told that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is having further talks with Rangers about the vacant managerial position since, of course, Steven Gerrard left to take up the position at Aston Villa. It’s understood he is not the only candidate, though. The club are pleased with the progress they are making.”

Van Bronckhorst remains the only person that is known to be on Ross Wilson’s final three-man shortlist. Neither Frank Lampard nor Ronald Koeman are believed to be in the running.

With the being the case, it is important to point out to supporters that there could yet still be a left-field candidate which emerges very late on in the process.

Even though van Bronckhorst would be a very popular choice, the Gers are being very methodical in their recruitment of a new manager and they are being very careful to ensure they pick the right successor to Gerrard.
