Rangers manager Michael Beale has ruled out the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window.
Despite Allan McGregor putting in another poor performance versus Aberdeen on Tuesday evening, it doesn’t look as if a replacement will be brought in any time soon.
After Jon McLaughlin’s struggles at the start of the season, some fans on Twitter believe Ross McCrorie should be handed the gloves to see whether he is good enough to be the number one:
McCrorie should be given his chance…

We need to be giving McCrorie a fair go. At the very least he should be our keeper for the Cups

Why isn’t mccrorie getting a shot same way McGregor did when he broke through only reason being has to be club don’t think he is good enough the lad is 24 if he isn’t ready now he never will be

McCrorie deserves a chance. Two high pressure games last season under difficult circa and two clean sheets.

Get McCrorie in asap.

They need to give McCrorie a chance the lad has the potential to be a really good keeper like McGregor he’s went and done his apprenticeship at clubs in the different leagues.

It should be pointed out that McCrorie has played just twice over the past two campaigns, having had limited game time since he was last loaned out during the 2020/21 season.
As some have mentioned, he has arguably done his apprenticeship after making 89 senior appearances, mostly for other teams, but it would still be a big step up to fill the shoes of McGregor. It will be interesting to see whether Michael Beale does give the 24-year-old an opportunity in upcoming fixtures.
