Rangers Vying With French Giants For 21 Year Old Defender After Multiple Scouting Trips

Rangers and Monaco are both interested in signing Royal Antwerp defender Willian Pacho, according to reports in the Belgian media.

The 21-year-old moved to the Jupiler Pro League from his native Ecuador during the January transfer window last year and he has been impressing scouts with his performances.

After taking some time to settle into European football, Pacho became a regular starter for Antwerp at the start of this season, playing matches in the Europa Conference League, in addition to domestic fixtures.

Representatives from Rangers are believed to have watched the Ecuadorian on several occasions, with manager Michael Beale keen on strengthening his options at centre-back.

With Filip Helander expected to leave when his contract expires in the summer, and John Souttar having been sidelined with injury, bringing in a young defender like Pacho could be a good solution to add depth at the back. The chance to recruit a player with a lot of potential will also be another motivating factor.
