Colombian Ace Drops Transfer Hint Amid Rangers And EPL Interest

Fluminense winger Jhon Arias has hinted that he may well stay with the Brazilian club despite interest from Rangers and sides in England.

The Colombian international was part of the team that won the Copa Libertadores earlier this month and, speaking about the historic victory, Arias said:

“It’s a wonderful thing. Celebrating the title with a party this size… everyone deserved it. I don’t consider myself an idol of Fluminense. I really like it here, I’m happy and very grateful.”

Arias played the full 120 minutes as Fluminense beat Boca Juniors 2-1 after extra time in the final. It’s the first time in the club’s history that they have won the tournament.

The player has also had a very good season personally, scoring 9 goals and providing 14 assists in 56 appearances.

Who is Gers target Jhon Arias?

The 26-year-old actually started his professional career in Mexico (coming through the academies at Dorados de Sinaloa and Tijuana).

Arias returned to his native Colombia where he made his senior debut for Patriotas. After also having spells with America de Cali and Independiente Sante Fe, he joined Fluminense in August 2021.

The Colombian has established himself as a regular starter over the past two and a half years. He is a right-footed winger capable of playing off both flanks, but managers have also deployed him in more central positions.

What clubs are interested in signing Arias?

In addition to Rangers, it is believed that four Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on the forward. Burnley, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves are said to be monitoring his situation. Two Championship sides (Leicester and Leeds) have been credited with an interest too.

With Arias having just under three years left on his contract, Fluminense are under no pressure to sell but a transfer in January cannot be ruled out.
