Rangers Name Europa League Squad With One Surprise Omission

Rangers winger Jordan Jones is not in the squad for the group stages of the Europa League, the club have confirmed. The Northern Irish international’s omission is a surprise as it is believed he will only miss a month of action following his injury against Celtic.

Despite suffering from his own knee injury, summer signing Brandon Barker has been included, but there is no place for midfielder Greg Docherty in the 22-man first-team squad.

The 22-year-old played four matches in the qualifying rounds but has not played for the first team since the 3-0 win over East Fife in the League Cup tie last month.

Rangers’ Europa League group consists of teams who have all featured in the Champions League group stages over the past few years.

Porto reached the quarter-finals before losing to Liverpool last campaign, while Feyenoord were in the competition just two seasons ago and Young Boys reached the group stages just last year.
