Rangers have sent scouts to see Blackpool striker Jerry Yates in action, according to reports in the UK.

The 25-year-old has been in red-hot form in front of goal, with his brace against Preston North End at the weekend taking his total to eight this season.

Yates is now level with Blackburn Rovers’ Ben Brereton-Diaz, Hull City’s Oscar Estupinan and Norwich City’s Josh Sargent at the top of the Championship goalscoring charts.

There will, however, be a lot of competition for the player’s signature. While the Gers had a representative in attendance to watch him at Bloomfield Road on Saturday, there were also said to be scouts from nine other teams.

Two Premier League clubs, Brentford and Bournemouth, were reportedly among those watching on. Blackpool’s £5m price tag could also be problematic but Rangers will be keen to snap up a striker soon with Alfredo Morelos seemingly unlikely to stay at Ibrox.
