Rangers In Pole Position Ahead Of Celtic After Offering Lucrative Contract To 22 Year Old

Rangers have looked to steal a march on Celtic in the race to sign Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo, according to reports in the UK.

The Gers are said to have offered the 22-year-old a contract which would be a significant pay rise on what he is currently earning at the Valley.

Aribo’s current deal with Charlton expires at the end of this month, and while the Addicks have offered the midfielder a new contract, the player is believed to be weighing up other options.

Celtic were reportedly looking at recruiting the League One star but they haven’t followed up their interest so far by tabling a contract offer.

The two Glasgow clubs are, however, not the only teams involved in the battle for Aribo. Two English Premier League sides, Aston Villa and Southampton are said to be interested, while Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have also been mentioned as a possible destination.
