‘No-Brainer’ McCulloch Believes Rangers’ Reported £350k Deal For Winger Will Prove A Wise Investment

Ex- Rangers star Lee McCulloch has backed Jake Hastie to be a success if he secures his summer move to Ibrox.

The Motherwell winger is reportedly close to sealing his switch, with a three-year contract having already been agreed.

McCulloch, a former Motherwell player, thinks Hastie has what it takes to make it at Rangers:

“Rangers signing Jake Hastie is not a gamble. It is a bit of a no-brainer to be honest and he will go on to be a great bit of business for them in the coming years…”

“He will prove to be a really good signing and even if they have to pay a few hundred grand, it should be well worth it. It is a cracking deal.”

“Hastie still has so much time on his side to improve and grow. He can get better and he will get better through time and experience.”

Hastie’s current deal at Fir Park expires at the end of the season, but as the winger is 21 years of age, Motherwell will be entitled to compensation, having developed the player.

The player will cost Rangers just £350,000 and considering he has scored six goals in just 12 Premiership appearances this campaign, the move is very low risk, as McCulloch points out.

The only major concern is that Hastie has very little experience at the top level, having played just 15 matches in the top flight.

Most of his game time has been in the Championship and League One where he has had loan spells at Alloa and Airdrieonians.
