Newcastle have made it a three-team battle for Rangers defender Jack Wylie, according to reports in the UK.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Arsenal and Manchester United were keeping tabs on the 15-year-old, and it now appears that the Magpies could also be in the mix to secure the player’s signature.

Wylie has not signed a professional deal, which means he can leave for a club south of the border for minimal compensation, with the Gers receiving only £350,000.

Newcastle have been scouring Scotland for young talent over the past twelve months, having recruited Jude Smith from East Fife and Charlie McArthur from Kilmarnock. It looks as if they have identified Wylie as their next target.

Rangers are believed to be determined to keep hold of the teenager, and they have tried to show that there is a pathway for him to the first team, having given him his debut for the Under 18s a couple of weeks ago. Whether that will be enough for him to sign a new deal, though, it remains to be seen.
