Kenny Dalglish Predicts Whether Steven Gerrard Will Consider Sensational Return To Rangers

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has played down the chances of Steven Gerrard being re-appointed manager of Rangers.

The 42-year-old left Ibrox to take up the manager’s role at Aston Villa twelve months ago but he lasted less than a year in the job at the Premier League side. With his successor at Ibrox, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, now also under threat of losing his position, there has been some speculation that Gerrard could make a dramatic return to Glasgow. However, Dalglish (who has a longstanding relationship with Gerrard) says he doesn’t believe it will happen:

“My personal view is that he wouldn’t go back to Ibrox. The full focus of all Rangers supporters should be on getting behind their manager and the squad. Giovanni deserves to be in the job.”

The availability of Gerrard will certainly put more pressure on van Bronckhorst, even if the former manager’s return to the Light Blues is not a genuine possibility.

Van Bronckohorst’s job is in serious jeopardy following recent results but a comeback win versus Aberdeen at the weekend has eased the pressure slightly. His future will be put firmly under the microscope once again, though, if the Gers fail to impress against Ajax on Tuesday night.
