“Come On!” Thierry Henry Has His Say On Van Bronckhorst’s Future At Rangers

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has defended Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst following the Light Blues’ woeful Champions League campaign.

The Gers could become the worst-ever team in the competition if they lose to Ajax in their last group match next week, but Henry has come to the defence of van Bronckhorst, who he believes is doing a “good job” at Ibrox:

“In that group, it was always going to be difficult, to be honest. I thought they were going to be way better at home. But I still think going to a Europa League final last year, and what they did, I think Giovanni is doing a good job. That was a tough group, come on! Have a look. That’s a tough group.”

It should be pointed out that Henry is a former teammate of van Bronckhorst’s, with the pair having played together at Arsenal and Barcelona during the early to mid-00s.

However, you do get where Henry is coming from in terms of the Champions League. Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax are all great teams and nobody expected Rangers to get out of the group.

Even so, you did expect the team to put up more of a fight, and the 7-1 home defeat to Liverpool, in particular, was unacceptable. The players looked like they downed tools, and fans have begun to turn on van Bronckhorst since that match.
