It is “extremely unlikely” that Rangers will secure the signature of Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Giovanni Reyna on loan, according to journalist Manuel Veth.
The American international had an injury-plagued 2021/22 season and there has been some speculation that he could leave Dortmund on a temporary basis this summer in order to find his fitness. However, Veth has played down reports that the player could make the switch to Scotland:
Whispers that #USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna could be loaned by #BVB to Scottish side Rangers.
Source told me that that is extremely unlikely. Terzic is hopeful to get the American back on track this season and Reyna has worked hard on his fitness in the offseason. π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώπ« pic.twitter.com/xVejxujaN6

Reyna, who is the son of former Gers star Claudio, was named after Giovanni van Bronckhorst so the Light Blues boss would have the ideal connections to pull off such a stunning transfer.
However, from the looks of things, the 19-year-old will be remaining at Dortmund to be part of manager Edin Terzic’s first-team plans. With Tom Lawrence joining van Bronckhorst’s side on a free transfer, it does appear as if the Scottish club are already strengthening their options in midfield anyway.
