“It’s Just Not Happening…” Laudrup Slams Rangers Star Who Was Anonymous In The Old Firm Derby

Rangers legend Brian Laudrup has singled out Ryan Kent for criticism following the Light Blues’ abject display against Celtic at the weekend.

While the former Liverpool winger was by no means the only poor performer on Saturday, Laudrup claims Kent has been struggling for a while and he has questioned why manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst hasn’t been able to get the best out of him:

“I’m starting to sound like a broken record but Van Bronckhorst has to ask himself how he gets the best out of Ryan Kent. Because it’s just not happening right now and Rangers are really suffering because of it. Could Rangers have matched that? Tom Lawrence was out but Rabbi Matondo wasn’t even in the squad, which was strange.”

There are plenty of other talented players in Rangers’ squad but, generally speaking, if Kent performs well then the entire team plays well. Those types of performances have been few and far between recently though, and he has been missing in action on too many occasions already this year.

Even though the 25-year-old has picked up three assists in seven appearances, his ability to score goals has deserted him. He only managed to find the net three times in the whole of last season, which is a stark contrast to the title-winning campaign when he bagged 13.

Kent’s contract situation could well be playing a role. The winger has less than a year left on his current deal and he could leave Ibrox on a free transfer next summer.
