‘He Was A Disaster’ ‘What A Day To Pick To Have A Shocker’ Fans Lament Rangers Star’s Awful Old Firm Performance

Rangers goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin had an Old Firm derby to forget as the Light Blues suffered a humiliating 4-0 away defeat to rivals Celtic on Saturday.

The 34-year-old was arguably at fault for three of the four goals conceded. He didn’t get a strong enough hand to Liel Abada’s opener, and he couldn’t keep out the Israeli’s second either as it went straight through his legs.

However, it was David Turnbull’s goal that really rubbed salt into the wound, as his poor pass led directly to the Celtic midfielder putting away the home side’s fourth of the afternoon. Needless to say, fans on Twitter didn’t hold back in their criticism of McLaughlin after the match:

McLaughlin’s performance leaves manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst in a very tight spot. He banked on the former Bradford player to be his number one this season but he has not taken the opportunity with both hands.

The big question is, will van Bronckhorst now reinstate Allan McGregor, despite the veteran shot-stopper now being 40 years of age?
