International Manager Makes Surprising Claim About Transfer Talks Involving Key Rangers Star

Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr claims that Rangers’ Joe Aribo was one of three players late to arrive for international duty after they were involved in transfer negotiations.

The midfielder, along with Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu and Boavista defender Chidozie Awaziem were set to arrive at the national team’s training camp later than expected and Rohr explained the reason why.

“We are still missing two players or three (Aribo, Onuachu, Awaziem), they will arrive tonight or tomorrow. These players were concerned by transfer problems so they could not be here with us since yesterday (Tuesday).”

There were rumours circulating about an English Premier League club holding discussions with the Gers about signing Aribo on deadline day but nothing came to fruition.

Light Blues fans will be delighted that the 25-year-old will be staying at Ibrox. He is a key player for manager Steven Gerrard, having started seven of the club’s eight games so far this campaign.

Rangers have actually done very well to keep their squad intact over the summer, with the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent Glen Kamara and Connor Goldson all staying put despite speculation about their futures at the Scottish club.
