“In Three Or Four Weeks…” Rangers Star Reveals He’s In A Race Against Time To Be Ready For Cup Final

Rangers attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi says he is still “three or four weeks” away from being able to play a full 90 minutes.

The Romanian international has made one appearance since returning from a serious knee injury, coming on against St Johnstone last month. However, he wasn’t in the matchday squad versus Hearts and he was an unused substitute when the Light Blues played Ross County at the weekend. Asked about his fitness situation, the 24-year-old said it may be another month before he is fully fit:

“For me to play 90 minutes? I would say in three or four weeks. But of course, it doesn’t just depend on me, I have to be called to do it. I have to show I can play well. I feel fine physically and mentally as well. Now I’m trying to play as many minutes as possible and get ready as quickly as I can.”

With the League Cup final against Celtic coming up on February 26th, Hagi is cutting it close if he wants to be in contention to start at Hampden Park.

The playmaker is certainly someone who could make the difference in a tightly contested game, so he would come under consideration as a starter by manager Michael Beale, but the expectation is that he will be on the bench for the derby.
