Former Rangers winger Amad Diallo turned 20 earlier this week and fans have been discussing his difficult six-month spell in Glasgow.
While some supporters on Twitter wouldn’t mind giving the Ivorian another chance, quite a few don’t believe the Manchester United player did enough during his stay at Ibrox to convince them that it would be worth re-signing him on loan:
I’d take him back, looked good in the last few games

Talented young player who’s inexperience was on full display, but as you would expect, he improved and got better the more game time he got.

Average at best tbh

Good player in there, got thrown under the bus during the 3-0 Old Firm and never really had a proper chance after that, finished the season well

He didn’t get off to the best start but, by the end of the season, you could see that there’s a decent player in there.

A mistake
In the heat of a title battle and we’re taking on another clubs development project (at the expense of our own)

Underwhelming with rare glimpses of his potential.

It was quite obvious that Diallo had not played a great deal of senior football before arriving at the club and, while he did impress on his debut, he was simply overawed on other occasions.
The winger did show some glimpses of what he can offer over the course of his time in Scotland but he would need regular game time to really flourish; something that manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst won’t be able to offer him.
After Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence both made their moves to Rangers official, there really isn’t room for another winger in the squad.
