“I Didn’t Really Know…” Beale Makes Frank Admission About 3M Van Bronckhorst Signing

Rangers manager Michael Beale has revealed that he wasn’t entirely sure about Ben Davies when he was first appointed manager back in November.

Although he was considered as a transfer target by the Gers before he made the switch to Liverpool, he only made the £3m move to Ibrox during Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s time in charge. The defender subsequently suffered from injury problems during his first few months at the club and Beale admits that there was some uncertainty about where the centre-back would fit in:

“I was delighted to receive him but obviously, he was out injured for three or four weeks. I didn’t really know what I was getting! But he is doing well.”

Davies has now managed to firmly establish himself as a regular starter under Beale, having struck up a good partnership with Connor Goldson in the centre of defence.

The 27-year-old has helped to keep five clean sheets in total after getting back into the team against Ross County just before Christmas, and the Gers have also only conceded six times in ten games during that period.
