Beale Provides New Update After Rangers Star Suffers “Quite A Nasty” Injury

Rangers manager Michael Beale has confirmed John Lundstram will undergo a scan on a “nasty” ankle injury he picked up in the 2-1 win over Ross County.

The former Sheffield United player has been in great form recently, and Beale admitted it was a big blow when the 28-year-old had to be substituted early on in the first half:

“John is really important to our structure. He was fantastic in midweek. He’s gone to block a shot and he’s rolled his ankle. It looks like quite a nasty one. We will take a scan on that and update after 24 hours.”

It will be hoped that Lundstram has only sustained severe bruising rather than anything more serious such as ligament or bone damage. He will be a major doubt for the Scottish Cup clash against Partick Thistle next Sunday, and it remains to be whether his participation in the League Cup final versus Celtic later his month is also under threat.

Without Lundstram, Beale’s men laboured to a narrow victory against Ross County at Ibrox, with the midfielder’s replacement Malik Tillman scoring the opener, before Borna Barisic’s deflected free-kick secured the three points.
