Four Potential Transfer Targets (Including Chelsea Star) That Rangers Could Pursue This Summer

The Ibrox Stadium.

With a number of Rangers’ players out of contract or having twelve months left on their current deals, there could be significant turnover in the first-team squad this summer.

After reaching the final of the Europa League, manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst may well be reluctant to make too many changes but he may have no choice.

Replacements for the likes of Connor Goldson, Steven Davis, Aaron Ramsey and perhaps even Allan McGregor, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo may have to be found.

Press the next page as we list four transfer targets that the Gers are likely to consider pursuing as they look to rebuild their squad in the coming weeks and months.

Benjamin Siegrist (Allan McGregor’s Replacement)

The 30-year-old has confirmed that he will be leaving Dundee United when his contract at Tannadice expires at the end of this month.

Siegrist has been linked with both Rangers and Celtic over the past year but, if Allan McGregor does decide to retire, the Light Blues would be favourites to land the Swiss shot-stopper.

Ross Graham (Connor Goldson’s Replacement)

The Gers have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the centre-back (along with his teammate Siegrist), and the 21-year-old could well be an option if Goldson leaves Ibrox.

John Souttar is already set to join from Hearts so Graham would probably play second fiddle to the more experienced Scottish international, but he could be one for the future.

Billy Gilmour (Aaron Ramsey or Steven Davis’s Replacement)

Multiple reports have suggested that Chelsea are looking to send the midfielder out on loan for a second successive season, following his difficulties at Norwich City.

Rangers are said to be in the frame for Gilmour, who are keen on bringing the former Auchenhowie graduate back to Scotland as they look to strengthen their midfield options.

Oladapo Afolayan (Ryan Kent’s Replacement)

The Bolton Wanderers winger is reportedly being looked at by the Bears in the event they do have to sell Kent. The former Liverpool player has yet to sign a new contract despite only one year remaining on his current deal.

Afolayan joined Bolton on a free transfer from West Ham last summer, after a successful loan spell, and he has had an impressive season in England’s League One, racking up 12 goals and providing seven assists in 44 appearances.
