“A Really Strong Option…” Rangers Backed To Sign 5 Cap International Midfielder

St Mirren midfielder Keanu Baccus would be a good signing for Rangers, according to pundit Tam McManus.

The Australian, who has been capped by his country on five occasions, was linked with the Gers last week and McManus believes he would be a “strong” addition as manager Michale Beale looks to reinforce his midfield:

“Baccus had a great World Cup for Australia, he’s a good age at 24, he’s settled down really well in the Scottish Premiership. I can see that one happening, I can see him coming in to give Rangers some help in the middle of the park, some strength, some legs and add some competition there because it seems to be the same players playing every week at the moment. They need more options in there so I think Baccus would be a really strong option for Rangers.”

The 24-year-old has also been praised by Barry Ferguson, although the former Rangers captain wasn’t as sure as McManus that the player is good enough to be a starter for the Bears.

There is no doubt that Baccus has performed well since moving to Scotland from Western Sydney Wanderers last summer, and he did play a key role for Australia as they made it to the last 16 of the World Cup.

It is believed that Rangers are lining up two to three signings for the January transfer window but it remains to be seen whether Baccus is one of those who will be arriving at Ibrox.
