Xabi Alonso Explains Why He Is Very Confident That Gerrard Will Bring Back Titles To Rangers

Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has backed his former teammate Steven Gerrard to win trophies as manager of Rangers.

The pair will play alongside and against each other in a legends match on Saturday, and speaking before the charity game, Alonso explained that Gerrard’s superb man-management skills and footballing knowledge make him the perfect coach for the Light Blues:

“I am sure trophies are just around the corner for Rangers now Stevie is there. I am sure he is going to achieve special things at Rangers. Stevie was not a normal player and he will not be a normal coach. He is a winner and will be a winner as a coach.”

“There was not a player he didn’t help at Liverpool. Not just in the first team but the youngsters as well. For such a big talent nothing was beneath him and I know he will still be that way as a coach. He wants to teach, he is always there to have an honest conversation, that is why Rangers will continue to improve under his guidance.”

Gerrard’s Rangers side certainly look like they are getting closer to winning titles. They are currently top of the Scottish Premiership after eight games played, two points ahead of their Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The Gers are also into the semi-finals of the League Cup and they will face Hearts at the start of November for a place in the final. There is a long way to go this season but Rangers fans will be confident of making it title number 55, especially after Alonso word’s about the manager.
