“Would Fit The Bill” Journalist Makes Claim About Potential Goldson Replacement Who Once Cost 15M

Rangers are likely to be considering Anderlecht centre-back Wesley Hoedt as an option to replace Connor Goldson, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The English journalist, who does have a decent track record when it comes to transfers, believes the former Netherlands international is a player that the Light Blues will look to pursue:

“I’m sure they are drawing up potential replacements for Goldson, and I think Hoedt probably would fit the bill.”

Hoedt was signed by Southampton for £15m when Gers Director of Football Ross Wilson was still at the English Premier League outfit so he will be familiar with the defender.

However, it should be pointed out that the Dutchman struggled in English football. He was sent out on three loan spells before leaving the Saints on a permanent basis back in June.

Hoedt is still only 27 years of age and, with six caps for his country at senior level, he does have a lot of experience, but it would be a risk if Wilson does decide to bring him to Ibrox.
