Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson impressed whilst playing for Scotland during the international break.
The 19-year-old set up Lyndon Dykes for the only goal of the game after a lung-bursting run against Moldova in the World Cup qualifier last week.
There are now questions over whether Patterson should be getting more minutes at club level. There are those who think manager Steven Gerrard should keep faith with captain James Tavernier and fans on Twitter are very much split on what to do:
Patterson will play plenty this season

Rangers should cash in on Tav and play Patterson!

Patterson is a young boy learning his trade still. Tav was outstanding all last season so the jersey is his for now. He's also started this season well too.

I think with Europe and hopefully two good cup runs will mean Patterson will play plenty personally.

We absolutely shouldn’t.

Well we’ve seen Tav get injured and be rested for key games so I’m sure Patterson is going to get plenty of games.
Rangers have also tried experimenting with Patterson in the RWB position and Tav being pushed up as an attacking winger so the opportunities will come for the lad.— Gruff (@Gruffzilla) September 10, 2021
4 assists in 6 games for Tav means until Patterson can come up with those kind of numbers then Tav will always start although I'd still like to see both in side.

It’s a difficult one. On the one hand, you don’t want to hamper Patterson’s development, especially with the likes of Everton and Liverpool circling, who could tempt him with a move south of the border.
However, it would be extremely harsh to drop Tavernier, especially considering his superb performances for the Light Blues over the past year. It will be hoped that Gerrard can find a way for both to get sufficient game time over the course of the season.
