Stephen McGowan Confirms Rangers Are Targeting 25 Year Old Midfielder Whose Contract Expires This Summer

Rangers are considering a move for Norwich attacking midfielder Kieran Dowell, according to the Daily Mail reporter Stephen McGowan.

The reliable journalist claims that manager Michael Beale is targeting the 25-year-old, whose current deal at Carrow Road expires at the end of June:

As Dowell is in the final months of his contract, the Gers will be allowed to speak face to face with both the player and his representative about a free transfer.

Canaries boss David Wagner has said that he wants to keep the former Everton star, but talks over an extension have been hampered by the fact that Dowell has been out injured recently.

The former England Under 21 international has played pretty regularly this season, having scored five goals and provided three assists in 25 matches for Norwich but, due to fitness problems, he hasn’t made an appearance in two months.

It remains to be seen whether Dowell’s injury record will affect Rangers’ decision to pursue the player.
