Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield scored within ten minutes after coming on as a substitute against St Mirren on Saturday.
The Canadian international is out of contract at the end of the season and, after making another important contribution at the weekend, fans on Twitter have been debating whether he should be rewarded with a new deal:
Absolutely, changed the game for me yesterday ONCE AGAIN

No, he should have been away last summer. We've delayed the rebuild one more season and we could be on the receiving end of celtic winning a treble. It's time to move on

Absolutely worth a year. He has a lot to offer and from what I've been told is a big part of the dressing room

Arfield is 34 years of age so some supporters are justified in arguing that it is probably time for him to make way for a younger alternative.
Even so, you can’t deny that he is still making an impact when called up. Nine goals in 36 appearances is not a bad return whatsoever, especially when you take into account that he has only managed 12 starts in all competitions.
There have been some unsubstantiated reports that the Gers are contemplating handing Arfield a one-year extension but, for the time being, his future at Ibrox beyond the summer remains uncertain.
