Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling is not expecting Rangers to get off to a good start in their Champions League group against Ajax this evening.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side travel to the Netherlands following a wretched display in the Old Firm derby at the weekend and Stelling feels they will lose 2-0 tonight, making it back-to-back defeats for the Light Blues.

Ajax, who have former Gers defender Calvin Bassey in their ranks, have won five games in a row at the start of the Eredivisie season and it will be a big test for van Bronckhorst’s men, who are still licking their wounds following the defeat to Celtic.

Rangers have, though, already been to Holland and won this campaign, having secured their passage to the group phase with a hard-fought win versus PSV Eindhoven. You would hope that experience will hold them in good stead for today’s match.

If they can get something from the game, Rangers will be in a strong position ahead of their first home European fixture against Napoli next week.
