Red tape will delay Nicolas Raskin’s debut for Rangers, according to the Daily Record.
The Belgian Under 21 international sealed his £1.75m move from Standard Liege on Deadline Day and there was some optimism that he could be involved against Hearts.
However, Raskin has not been handed a work visa by the British government yet and, while it is seen as just a formality, manager Michael Beale will be prevented from including him in his matchday squad.
The 21-year-old has revealed that he turned down offers from elsewhere after being persuaded by Beale that the best place for his development would be Ibrox:
“I spoke to the manager about my position in the squad. He talked to me about how he saw me play. The manager convinced me to come because I had a few other interested clubs. But no other manager talked to me like him and convinced me. I really liked how he talked to me. I want to come directly after we spoke.”
Raskin has not played a first-team match since November due to his contract dispute with Standard, so he is unlikely to be starting matches straight away when he is eligible to play.
A substitute appearance against Ross County on Saturday is a possibility, though, with Gers fans keenly anticipating seeing their new signing in action.
