Sky Sports Pundit Calls Out Rangers Player After “Ridiculous” Incident During Aberdeen Draw

Sky Sports pundit James McFadden was not impressed with Todd Cantwell’s theatrics during Rangers 1-1 draw with Aberdeen at the weekend.

Cantwell tried to buy a foul in the first half, falling to the ground too easily and, speaking about the incident, McFadden slammed the midfielder’s behaviour:

“That is ridiculous. That is absolutely ridiculous from Todd Cantwell. I mean, he’s a good player, but you don’t want to be seeing that.”

Cantwell has earned himself a reputation for diving, with fellow Sky pundit Chris Sutton being one of his fiercest critics, and the incident against the Dons will certainly not help matters.

You do expect better from the 25-year-old, who has the talent to be one of the Gers’ most creative players on his day, but he didn’t manage to create anything of note at Pittodrie.

Cantwell was one of the better performers at the weekend

In what was one of their most disappointing performances since Phillip Clement took charge, the Gers struggled to really get in behind Aberdeen’s defence.

Cantwell was full of his direct running, without any end product, while the likes of Danilo and Abdullah Sima (in particular) failed to get into the match.

Rangers fail to capitalise on Celtic draw

Captain James Tavernier salvaged a late point from the penalty spot but the Light Blues squandered a golden opportunity to close the gap on their Old Firm rivals.

Celtic were surprisingly held at home by Motherwell, after a stoppage-time equaliser from Jonathan Obika, so there was a chance to get within six points of the league leaders with a game in hand. As it stands, a title challenge from the Gers looks unlikely, unless there are more slip-ups from the Hoops.
