Rangers Target Turns Down Move To Italian Minnows As He Waits For Bigger Clubs To Get Involved

Former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere has turned down an approach from Serie B club Chievo Verona, according to reports in the Italian media.

Rangers have been heavily linked with a move for the 28-year-old in recent weeks but it appears Wilshere’s first formal offer has come from a second division Italian team.

Chievo currently sit second in Serie B but Wilshere is believed to be only open to moving to Italy if a Serie A side comes in for him.

Respected PA journalist Andy Newport has said that the former England international would be interested in making the switch to Rangers were it to be a possibility but, so far, it seems the Scottish club have yet to make contact.

What may be holding the Light Blues back from making an approach is Wilshere’s injury record, as well as his salary demands. A switch to the United States seems to be the likeliest outcome for the midfielder at the moment, but a move to Ibrox cannot be ruled out either.
