Rangers Talisman Could Be Offloaded For Just £4m In Summer Exodus

Rangers may sell captain James Tavernier for just £4m at the end of the season, according to the Shields Gazette. The local English newspaper believes the 28-year-old could well be the victim of a massive overhaul of the Gers squad in the summer.

The fullback has been criticised for his performances this campaign and came under fire recently for comments he made to the club’s matchday programme suggesting the squad were unable to deal with pressure when coming up against opponents in the domestic league.

Tavernier was reportedly valued at around £15m during the January transfer window when Newcastle were said to be interested in the Englishman, but it appears his poor form has affected his valuation massively.

The Shields Gazette report that the Magpies may not return for the defender, but the likes of Aston Villa and West Brom remain ‘keen’ on the player. Whether there is any truth to these claims, we will find out at the end of the campaign.
