Rangers Register Interest In 3 Cap International Shot Stopper As They Try To Beat 4 EPL Clubs To Bargain Deal

Rangers have expressed an interest in signing West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to reports in the English media.

The 29-year-old, who has three caps for England, will be available on a free transfer in the summer when his contract with the Baggies expires.

Johnstone is being looked at as a potential replacement for Allan McGregor, with the 40-year-old expected to hang up his gloves at the end of the season.

Bringing Johnstone to Ibrox, though, won’t be an easy task. There are said to be four English Premier League teams who are seeking to snap him up.

Tottenham are particularly keen on the keeper as they look to sign a backup for number one Hugo Lloris, while West Ham, Southampton and Newcastle are also interested.

Johnstone is, however, looking to be a regular starter as he bids to be a part of England’s World Cup squad later this year so Rangers should not be discounted as a potential destination.
