Rangers are “quietly confident” that they can win the race to sign Blackpool teenager Anthony Weston, according to the Scottish Sun.
The Light Blues are facing a battle for the player’s signature, though, with English Premier League side Everton and Leeds also keen on the player.
Weston has only made one senior appearance, and that was a brief cameo in the 3-1 win over Maidstone in the FA Cup second round tie back in December.
The 16-year-old had previously been an unused substitute in the defeat to Scunthorpe United in the EFL Trophy in November, but he has not featured in a matchday squad for a league game yet.
His impressive performances at youth level have grabbed the attention of a number of clubs, and it’s likely Rangers’ Director of Football Ross Wilson has been keeping a close eye on the striker.
Whether the Gers will be able to beat their rivals to Weston’s signature, we shall have to wait and see.
