Former England and Manchester City defender Micah Richards has revealed that he is a big fan of Rangers attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell.
The BBC and Sky Sports pundit says the Light Blues player is someone he has always rated and he believes that, now Cantwell is in Scotland, he has found a place where he can show off his talent:
“Cantwell is a player you know. I know he was at Norwich and has played at various teams but he has got something. Especially for that league. He is a real star.”
While some fans were initially sceptical about whether he would make the grade at Ibrox, considering he lost his place in Norwich’s first team, things have gradually fallen into place for Cantwell.
The Rangers star has been outstanding over the last two months
It’s fair to say that Cantwell didn’t start the season in the greatest form, having scored just once in all competitions before the end of November.
However, the 25-year-old has been excellent over the last couple of months. After scoring his first league goal of the campaign on Christmas Eve during the 2-0 win over Motherwell, he has gone on to score 4 more in his last 8 appearances.
Clement is getting the best out of Cantwell
The Englishman is not the only player who has improved since the arrival of Philippe Clement as manager but the Belgian has deployed him in his best position and he has reaped the benefits.
Cantwell has been very influential playing in the No.10 role and, with the likes of Abdallah Sima, Ross McCausland, Cyriel Dessers, Fabio Silva and Rabbi Matondo making runs around him, the playmaker seems to be in his element.
