Rangers forward Fabio Silva played his third game for the the Light Blues’ in the 2-2 friendly draw against FC Copenhagen earlier this week.
The Portuguese was brought in on loan from Wolves at the start of the month, and it was suggested that the striker could solve the club’s issues upfront.
However, based on early impressions, many fans on X don’t believe Silva is really suited to the no.9 role, which has raised questions as to why he was signed in the first place:
He isn't a 9.

More a winger we need a proper striker

It’s clear that although he’s a “baller”, it’s also clear No9 is not his natural or best position. A natural striker would make a huge difference to the team and end product.

He’s not a centre forward, his goals prove that. Yet again another cheap option by the board.

Not really an out and out striker like we need. More of a 10 type player by the looks of it.

Has he had a shot yet in 3 games now

I don't think he is that No9 type but can definitely do the role. We still need that goalscorer!

Silva needs to be given a chance to impress in upcoming fixtures for Rangers
Supporters may want to hold off making any definitive judgements on the striker. Admittedly, he has not been a prolific scorer in his senior career so far.
However, it must be pointed out that Silva is only 21 years of age and he is still learning the game. He is clearly a cultured, silky player who likes to get involved in build-up play but that doesn’t preclude him from being a finisher too.
His record in Belgian and Dutch football is promising
While there is no getting away from the fact that Silva’s goal return for Wolves is very poor, there were signs of improvement during his loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven last campaign.
The Portuguese Under 21 international averaged a goal every 3 games for those teams. Even though it is not a great record, it is an improvement on his time at Wolves.
