Rangers Make The Top 25 Clubs In The World For The Highest Average Attendance

Rangers have the 24th highest average attendance in the world, according to Transfermarkt (via the Scotsman). The website says the Gers’ averaged 49,474.

The Gers’s Old Firm rivals Celtic are higher on the list, with their average of 57,767 putting them 13th. In terms of other British clubs, Manchester United are the highest, sitting fourth with a figure of 73,504.

Arsenal are eighth, West Ham are ninth and Tottenham are tenth. EPL champions Manchester City are fifteenth while current European champions Liverpool are quite far down the pecking order in 16th, averaging 52,988.

Considering Ibrox’s capacity is 50,817, Steven Gerrard’s side are pretty much getting full houses every week, and it does beg the question whether an expansion will be needed at some point.

In the summer, it was reported that the Light Blues were exploring ways to expand the capacity up to 55,000. There are currently 15,000 supporters on the waiting list for season tickets with 47,000 already sold.
