Rangers ‘Highly Interested’ In Algerian Playmaker As They Are Tipped To Rival Celtic For Player’s Signature

Rangers have joined Celtic in pursuing ES Setif attacking midfielder Ahmed Kendouci, according to DZFoot.com.

The website claims that the two Old Firm rivals are “highly interested” in the Algerian Under 23 international, who is expected to move clubs during the January transfer window.

Kendouci is not likely to command a high transfer fee, with some reports indicating that he could be let go for as little as £1m.

The 22-year-old has never played outside his native country but he did burst onto the scene last season by scoring 11 goals and contributing 11 assists in 43 appearances for ES Setif.

Whether Kendouci could translate that sort of form if he moves to the Scottish Premiership, it isn’t known, but the Gers are likely to be keen on signing a new midfielder.

Scott Arfield is expected to leave Ibrox when his contract expires in the summer, and there are some doubts over whether Steven Davis will carry on playing beyond the end of the campaign.
