Rangers Have Received 1.5M Windfall From Sale Of Chelsea Star

Rangers have banked around £1.5m from Chelsea’s decision to sell Billy Gilmour to Brighton, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Scottish international made the switch to the south coast on deadline day for £9m and it is believed that the Gers had a 15% sell-on clause, which meant they received a decent chunk of the final fee.

There was some hope that Gilmour may decide to return to Ibrox when it became clear that he was not part of Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans. However, once it emerged that he wanted a permanent move, instead of a loan switch, the prospects of a return to Scotland faded.

It is thought that the Scottish international was keen on a fresh start after a difficult twelve months. A spell at Norwich City did not go to plan and it appears he is looking to get himself back on track ahead of the World Cup.
