Rangers Dealt Double Blow As Journalist Confirms Contract Talks With Rangers Stars Have “Stalled”

Rangers have hit a roadblock in contract negotiations with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, according to Jonny McFarlane.

The Rangers Review journalist claims that talks have “stalled” with the two players, meaning both could now leave in January or for free at the end of the season:

“My understanding with both players is that contract talks have stalled. I think that’s kind of obvious. I think there was a lot of positive noises coming out, and I think we felt that it was looking good for new contracts, maybe at the start of the summer for Morelos and Kent. I don’t know if that’s the case now. I think it’s looking more likely that both will be walking out on freedom of contract, or sold in January.”

As McFarlane says himself, the news is hardly surprising. You only have to look at the performances/attitudes of Kent and Morelos this campaign to see they are not 100% committed to the club.

Kent has been picked regularly by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst but the former Liverpool player has been well below his best since the season opener back in July.

Morelos’s poor attitude and fitness levels led to him being left out of the matchday squad entirely on occasions and he hasn’t looked himself even when given minutes off the bench. It isn’t making van Bronckhorst’s job any easier when two of his best players have effectively downed tools.
