Rangers Dealt Blow As Chelsea Make Decision On 19 Year Old’s Future

Rangers won’t be signing Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan after the London club opted to keep the 19-year-old until the end of the season, according to reports in England.

The teenager was said to be angling for a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge in a bid to make sure he is included in Scotland’s squad for the European Championships.

However, despite reports that Southampton could also make a move for the player, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has decided to keep Gilmour after being left impressed by the midfielder in training.

The Scotland Under 21 international has not featured in either of Tuchel’s first two matchday squads since he took over from Frank Lampard as head coach but it seems he will play a more prominent role in upcoming fixtures.

Rangers have been linked with Gilmour regularly in recent months, although manager Steven Gerrard did play down the speculation back in December.
