Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers scored the fourth and final goal as new manager Philippe Clement got off to a flying start with a 4-0 win over Hibernian at the weekend.
Dessers has struggled since moving from Cremonese for £4.3m in the summer, having scored just once in the Scottish Premiership prior to Saturday.
However, the Nigerian international finished confidently to help secure the Gers a vital victory and fans on X are hoping it is a fresh start for the player:
Like the manager said, everyone has a clean slate from him, so we need to try and get behind the likes of Dessers to build his confidence.
Hopefully he can kick on from this and build on it the next couple of games

it was a great finish

I though he was involved a lot yesterday and held the ball up well. Great finish but some pass from Cantwell.

I think that goal will be a big confidence booster also working under Clement who he worked under before at FC Brugge

Very composed considering the lack of confidence. A positive first game for the new boss.

I thought both Dessers and Lammers were good today. Both can improve but better than we’ve seen from both

Takes a lot of composure to feint the defenders when’s he’s had a horrible run of form. Shows his football brain is at least still intact.

Dessers has flattered to deceive since moving to Rangers
Much was expected of the 28-year-old when he arrived at Ibrox back in July. Scoring 10 goals from a struggling team in Italy’s top flight is no mean feat, and it was hoped that he could replicate that form with the Light Blues.
Unfortunately, despite starting 12 games in all competitions for his new club, he has only managed to hit the back of the net 4 times.
Clement’s appointment could be crucial for some of Rangers’ summer signings
Dessers is not the only new recruit who has struggled to settle into life in Glasgow. Sam Lammers has also failed to hit his straps but he did perform well against Hibs too.
It is hoped that Clement will begin to get more out of the squad than his predecessor did. Whether it will be enough to get back into the title race, though, we shall have to wait and see.
