Rangers Considering Shock Move To Sign 25 Year Old Shot Stopper

Rangers are interested in signing Cambridge United goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov, according to reports in the English media.

The 25-year-old has made a name for himself in the lower leagues, helping Cambridge to promotion to League One a couple of years ago.

Since then, Mitov has been a consistent performer in the third tier of English football. However, his contract with Cambridge does expire at the end of the season.

It means the Gers can either swoop in now and secure the Bulgarian for a modest fee, or wait until next summer when he will be available on a free transfer.

Considering Allan McGregor will turn 41 in January, some sort of replacement may need to be found if the veteran keeper does decide to call it a day.

Mitov could, therefore, be seen as a potential backup for Jon McLaughlin, who has established himself as a regular starter under manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst this campaign.
