Rangers Close To Securing Sixth Summer Deal Following Medical

Rangers are poised to secure their sixth signing of the summer after Oldham defender George Edmundson underwent a medical yesterday, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Gers have agreed a £650,000 transfer fee for the 21-year-old after previously having two bids rejected for the centre-back.

Edmundson could seal his move very soon with the Scottish club hopeful of the player signing before the first-team travel to Portugal for a pre-season training camp this weekend.

Rangers have had to see off a number of different clubs for the player with Portsmouth and Peterborough both having made offers.

The lure of playing at Ibrox seems to have swayed Edmundson, though, with manager Steven Gerrard keen to strengthen a weak area of the squad.

The centre-back will fight for a place in the first team with Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic next season, with the Light Blues probably likely to look for another addition in the centre of defence before the transfer window closes.
