Rangers Are Optimistic That They Will Receive 4M Windfall From Midfielder’s Transfer

The Ibrox Stadium.

Rangers do expect to receive an additional £4m from the sale of Joe Aribo to Southampton, according to reports.

The Nigerian international was sold to the English Premier League side for an initial £6m during the summer transfer window but the Light Blues included bonuses that could make the deal worth up to £10m.

As Aribo had less than twelve months remaining on his contract when he left Ibrox, there wasn’t a lot of optimism that the add-ons would be easily achievable.

However, it appears that Southampton agreed to pay bonuses based on appearances. With Aribo having played nine games for the Saints already this season, there is now growing confidence among the Rangers board that they will receive the full £4m.

Of course, injuries and a loss of form may affect that outlook in the future but, for now, it seems Aribo could earn the club an eight-figure sum.
