Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has a £10m release clause in his contract, according to transfer insider The 4th Official.
The Nigerian international has been heavily linked with a move to England this summer, with the player having less than a year left on his current deal, but the presence of the buyout fee has sparked a lot of debate among supporters on Twitter:
If that's true it's an absolute disgrace. Then again nothing should shock me with the way our club does transfer business. Ross Wilson is taking us for a ride.

It's either we get 10m now (which is a more than decent price) or we let him go for free in 12 months

£10m is fine for a last year contract

Only 10m?

We cant really expect too much more than £10m in the last year of his deal, so not too much of an issue now. Would have been more shocking if he went for that last summer.

On the face of it, getting £10m for Aribo doesn’t sound like a low amount, when you consider the fact that he could sign a pre-contract agreement in just six months’ time, but the concern is that this buyout fee has been present since he joined in 2019.
There was, therefore, a big danger of the 25-year-old being sold for a relatively modest price. To date, though, nobody has decided to trigger the clause.
The likes of Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Southampton are all said to be interested in Aribo so we shall see if the player is subject to any formal bids over the coming weeks.
